My kids and I are in Shotokan karate. 8 yo son has had 2 belt tests in the past year and went from white to red to orange (our club's order is white, red, orange, yellow, blue, green, purple, brown, black). Usually kids get some stripes on each belt before being promoted, so this is highly unusual and quite honestly I'm kinda afraid. My daughter is testing Saturday and will join me as a blue belt. We clearly need to up our game because homeboy is coming for us
