According to the latest news, it looks like #Anthropic have now rejected the request from the US Government. However, its likely the Government will compel them to make the change.

Conversations today at the Algarve Tech Hub Summit reminded us:

The hardest part of AI isn’t intelligence — it’s dependability.

How do we make systems we can trust to collaborate?

That’s what we’re exploring with Baticova Swarm AI.

Of course. Right after I explain that #AI in future will not be Big AI but instead it will move in the direction of small, domain-specific models which use only a fraction of the resources of Big AI and how you can combine these small models with a layer that distributes and assembles the replies to deliver results more like a #SwarmAI, OpenAI brings out a project called Swarm. Le sigh. I should have filed for a trademark, I guess. https://github.com/openai/swarm

There is a lot of interesting and innovative things happening in the "Small AI" space. Domain-specific models, the combination of these into a kind of "meta" AI approach (I call it #SwarmAI) that can be on par with the big models while only costing a fraction in energy consumption and compute resources. A lot of this however goes almost unnoticed due to the hype and marketing around "Big AI". #JustSayin
Will we be able to build communities of #SwarmAI positive market players? History tells me — yes, we will. Do we need standards and open markets for that? Oh yes, we do. So guess what I as Evangelist at Red Hat think about most of the time? Yes. That. I'll stop here because ideas are bigger than people. Some of you will see the opportunity and make it work. That's what I hope for. I am not relevant. Ideas are :). 10/10
We see the top-down by a few. OpenAI, Gemini etc. But we also see the bottom-up by the many. Small. domain-specific AI models, created the Open Source Way. Now when you add a meta layer that combines these small, domain-specific models, that can be trained at a fraction of the cost of the GIGO, top-down models and do it with the right weights, you get AI that is truly open and adaptable. That's what I call #SwarmAI. 9/10
Because our owner (I work at Red Hat) IBM also has a long history and loads of structured data. So they are also exploring those questions. And we at Red Hat can bring in our Open Source experience and knowledge. To create what I call #SwarmAI. Let me explain. 7/10
On Wednesday I will lead a session with experts and journalists on this very topic. I will introduce an, IMHO, better way which I call #SwarmAI. Instead of the One Big Model To Rule Them All, let's have domain specific, small models that can be ML (Machine Learning), GenAI (Generative AI) or something else. Let's feed those small models with verified data. And combine their inference in a weighted way to deliver results. A swarm instead of an oracle.
Introducing #SwarmAI. Moving away from big, centralised AI that promises to know everything about everything to a world of small, domain-specific, less energy-consuming models that can be combined to form a swarm that become in sum bigger as their (small) parts. Where you decide which combination with specific weights constitute your solution.
