Doing #research on #crowdsourcing platforms is the closest thing to working in #customer #service as an academic. You reject a submission for failing attention checks, speeding through a 20-minute study in 90 seconds, and submitting absolute nonsense? Now they’re in your inbox demanding payment, insisting they “definitely read everything”, and arguing that your study is “literally broken” (you do realise I can see your data, right?).

Bestie, I’m an unpaid #PhD #student working with carefully budgeted research funding. I do not have the energy to fight over £1,50. I'm just fully realizing how much online experience is now driving me to the limits of mind wellness.

Every site, every admin panel, every service, every RDP session, each time the same f*cking cascading requests/pop-ups nightmare.

For your consent, your password, your acknowledgement, your subscription, your SMS code, your MFA. It never stops.

We're now spending more time accepting authentication requests, finding the right credential, login in auth software, denying/accepting every requests than doing actual work.

It's completely exhausting.

ps : and I can't imagine being online without my Precious (ie. #pihole).

Why isn’t it possible to have a government based on rational thought?

“This works well in country x, let’s do it”

“If an idea doesn’t work, let’s stop doing it.”

No dogma. No political theory. Evidence based policy. The country should be run scientifically, not an article of faith in gut feel.

Honestly, while I understand that Apple lives or dies depending on how many iPhone sells, I'd really like they stop turning macOS in a bigger screen version of iOS.

Computers are computers, phones are phones.

And no, I do not care at all what Steve Jobs was thinking. The guy was a genius, but he' wasn't always right. Can we do something *different* again, please?
