Today I drove the road less travelled, just to see this building. It is considered one of the most important buildings of modern Norwegian architecture. The architect is Geir Grung and it is his hydropower station in Suldal, at Nesflaten.
I see they call it in the style of functionalism but I would call it in the style of the brutalism.
Anyway.
It is a building from when the hydropower used to belong to Norway and its citizens. Now most of our electric power and more so from this county, is sold as any commodity. So many houses of Suldal have installed solar panels - even though they are the largest producer of power from water in Norway.
In Norway we have a new saying:
- Don’t mention the electricity!
But the building is an icon though.
