@Pamela1960 This is one of the things I really like about #STV elections. No candidate stands a chance without a very strong local connection.
This week I have learned that Malta and Ireland are both using the Single Transferable Vote method in national elections. I knew that e.g. Northern Ireland are doing it, but I was only aware of Australia doing it at the sovereign level.

@NicelyManifest I am annoyed with the voting system.
D'Hondt is better in many ways than #FPTP, but it gives far too much power to parties and it creates #WastedVotes. This year, the wasted votes have been for Labour and the Greens, handing ~4 seats to #ReformUK.
Much better to use #STV, as in Ireland, in Northern Ireland, and in Scottish local elections. There are no wasted votes in STV.
But I like the result. #PlaidCymru will be fresh, and I like minority governments. It keeps them honest.
STV staff on strike today, affecting election coverage. Apparently STV can't afford to pay them properly and also want to reduce the amount of local news coverage.

4 districts, 3 members in each district, chosen via ranking. I prefer explicit PR via a ballot where you just vote for a party, like in #NewZealand , but any form of PR in the #USA is worth media attention.
