State Rep. Jolanda Jones has declared as a candidate in the special election for Texas’ 18th Congressional District, left vacant since the death of U.S. Rep. Sylvester Turner in March. That greatly increases the likelihood of a runoff.

A 40-year-old man has been accused of sexually assaulting a female student at knifepoint in a campus parking garage on Feb. 7. There also have been multiple robberies this month at the university located in Houston's Third Ward, including a pair of scooter thefts.
