Here's the little pencilcase that I made this weekend. I like this pattern because it's long enough for markers and brushes.
All materials apart from the zipper are remnants from my stash.
If you're after a very last minute gift idea, might I propose this as inspiration? I had to make 50 squeaky bones for an event recently and decided it'd be a very good idea to document the process so you can see how I went about it.

It's that time of the year when I suddenly wish for a pair of fingerless reading mittens when I sit at my computer. So I pulled out one of those half-used balls of sock yarn and cast on. Next project: a belt bag, using a very cute antifascist patch that I once bought from a now-defunct web store. The only material I bought for this is a strap and some D-rings, otherwise it's stashbusting.
