Gnats! You know, those tiny flying bugs. I had just finished applying decking oil to some nice #SpottedGum (1) decking boards when a cloud of them flew past and could not resist the temptation. What's the attraction? If your wondering where all the insects in the world have gone they are all stuck to my freshly oiled decking boards. How do I clean them off? And can anyone tell me why they are attracted to wet decking oil?
(1) I am really hoping that Bunnings are buying their spotted gum decking boards from plantations rather than old growth like they claim that they do. Spotted Gum is Australia's major hardwood plantation species and beats importing Merbau from South East Asian rainforests.

EDIT: So apparently Spotted Gum doesn't belong to the Eucalyptus genus anymore, it's now classified as Corymbia. So it's still a Gum Tree just not a Eucalyptus Gum Tree.
