Years ago when I was happy to step into the USA, I was on my tod and about to enter Red Rock Canyon where I was going to draw. It was a seriously baking hot day so first I stopped at a visitor centre and ended up buying a book called Desert Solitare by an author I didn't know at the time, Edward Abbey. I read that book and went on to read others by the same author. Now years later, I've just finished a work of fiction but loved the fact that in the narrative (even if in passing) he was mentioned.
