Tomorrow I'm leaving to attend Southeast Linuxfest in Charlotte, NC and I can't wait. It's the one event each year that gives me a chance to ruminate on things that make tech awesome rather than things that make tech terrible.

It's like drinking from an oasis after being lost in the desert for a year. This year is definitely no exception since big tech is collectively swirling the toilet at this point.

Looks like I'll be giving 2 talks at #southeastlinuxfest this year. One talk on Friday morning just giving an introduction to operating systems and another Saturday going over-built blog site (from rust+elixir code to kubernetes deployment). Can't wait!
Finally got around to summarizing my thoughts on attending the SouthEast LinuxFest 2023. It was my first Linux conference and this was a rather eye-opening experience. Needless to say, I'm already planning on going back next year.

I've been a Linux fan for almost 30 years, yet in all of that time, I never actually attended a Linux event (ignoring a handful of local Linux User Group (LUG) events here and there). That is, until this past weekend when I attended SouthEast LinuxFest (SELF) 2023 in Charlotte, NC. So what took so long? Well frankly, traditionally I have avoided socializing with others. COVID and age have both helped to shift my position on this a bit.
