@tk Started going to #SELF (Southeast Linux Fest) a few years ago and it turns out that #ESR (Eric in the comic for the ill-informed) is actually a pretty cool guy. He's got less hair and is definitely older now, but his talks fill the room.

Agree or disagree with the man as you will, but he's a thinker. He's putting a lot of time and thought into the opinions he forms and he's not afraid to change his mind if the evidence dictates it.

@fpgasarecool I was reasonably negative about it until I saw Carl demo it at #SELF2024 - seeing it demoed by somebody who is intimately familiar with it gives you a new perspective into what they are trying to do and honestly its pretty damn cool.

Sad to say I left #SELF2024 a little early this morning (after the first session) as I only had three hours of sleep last night and wanted to make absolutely sure I could make the 90 minute drive home before I passed out.

Had a great time and stayed up late to #party with the best bunch of #linux using peeps I have ever met.

See you all again next year!

Well my first session at #SELF2024 was an overview of the #cosmic desktop by @system76 from @carlrichell himself. That was pretty awesome all things considered. Not gonna lie, I was skeptical going in but it demos really well and they have clearly put a lot of thought into accommodating personalized workflows.

I couldn't help but to be impressed!
