Let it be clear, the only reason why the #trumpadministration is addressing the so-called 'white genocide' in #SouthAfrika is because he wants to establish a sense of white victimhood. This in that sense is not about South Afrika, but a signal to his own support base which he wants to build around #whiteness and he can later mobilise along this sense and identity - it is in essential 'identity politics'. But it is one where the dominant force is acting as if being a victim and then using that to justify all sort of other injustices. It is not aimed at emancipation and general equality, but about establishing supremacy. 'We are the majority and thus we have the right to dictate'. It was also not about facts, #Trump doesn't care about facts, its about creating narrative and mobilising uncomfortable feelings. Everybody knows that rectifications have never the effect of fully cancelling out falsehoods - the Trump-administration as well...
