LessThanPerfectModestie et discrétion semblent bien être les deux principales qualités de Julian Pitt, alias Armstrong, à tel point que je ne suis pas sûr d'avoir seulement déjà pensé à évoquer ici les chansons qu'il publie pourtant assez régulièrement en ligne.
Je me rattrape donc avec la dernière en date...
Il faudra qu'on m'explique comment il fait : avec seulement un motif de guitare répété du début à la fin, auquel viennent s'adjoindre quelques notes au clavier en cours de route, il parvient à donner l'impression qu'on est en train d'écouter un titre #sophistipop richement orchestré.
Bref, juste une chanson, mais quelle chanson !

J'ai évoqué ici il y a quelque temps un très bel album solo récent de Yasuharu Konishi, l'un des membres de #PizzicatoFive.
Je découvre à l'instant le premier album solo de Keitaro Takanami, sorti en 1993 juste avant qu'il ne quitte Pizzicato Five.
La base demeure évidemment #shibuyakei, mais fortement teintée de #sophistipop, d'arrangements #jazz, de réminiscences #kayokyoku, et j'en passe. Le tout en "à peine" moins d'une heure de musique : une absolue merveille. Il faut que j'écoute le reste de sa discographie !
La somme de talents rassemblée au sein de P5 était décidément inégalable.
Et cette pochette incroyable en prime !

Non, paris match n'est pas le titre d'un magazine mais celui du duo formé depuis 2000 par Yusuke Sugiyama et Mari Mizuno.
Dès leurs débuts, ils ont pris l'habitude de numéroter leurs albums dans le titre de ceux-ci. Celui qui sort aujourd'hui, sobrement intitulé Le 13e (en français dans le texte), est donc bien leur 13e album.
Après 25 ans de carrière, la recette est bien rodée : une #sophistipop parfaitement orchestrée, des arrangements #jazz, le tout au service de l'ineffable voix de Mari Mizuno. Et moi, en entendant ça, je fonds littéralement, comme à chaque fois.

Last week I mentioned I was enjoying Basil’s 1987 album “Time and Tide”. A part of the “sophisti-pop” genre from the 1980s, today I stumbled upon a song I had not heard in a very long time. I am now listening to the 1985 album “Blue” by Double. They are most famous for “The Captain of Her Heart”.
It sounds so sweet through noise canceling headphones. I’m looking forward to picking up the physical album so I don’t have to rely on a streaming service to enjoy this 1980s treasure.
