Doing things with deadlines is good for this sometimes! I make music, so things like #Songfight or #RPMChallenge have helped me see a project to completion when I do them on occasion. Currently I’m contributing to #DisquietJunto. The trade off is that you have to be more spontaneous and not be so precious or perfect about the result. Other than that, yeah, most of my stuff languishes away unfinished on a hard drive indefinitely.

This songfight.org song by "Grid" called "Days of Peace" got 13 votes and for some reason it makes me wanna sing "Dancing in the Moonlight".

It may remind of something else some other day/time but today it reminded me of this version:

Why?

Maybe cause the song began in a 'chill way'

I actually just tested it.
I could sing it over the intro and it worked!

I had sent the song to the fightmaster at UTC time 19:41.

It took me 13 hours and 18 minutes cause I had "started" at

06:23 UTC (Monday, April 13, 2026).

I was not too late because it still says "Days of Peace" on songfight.org.

I was lucky!

Here it is. My finished song. I have greater skills than this so don't underestimate me 😂

I got rusty for not participating in SF for so long...

I'm still releasing my songs as CC0 1.0 Universal though. That's not gonna stop.

Metadata doesn't seem to transfer to Mastodon as it gets wiped but that's ok.

I have metadata stating that I am waiving this song as CC0 1.0 Universal and then a link to the appropriate Creative Commons section.

I have an idea for lyrics creation. The distraction game! Used this in regards to mental health and this might be the first time I "songify it":

06:23 UTC April 13...is my "official start time" for "working on the next songfight.org song".

No lyrics yet, no melody yet...but I'm not giving up, before the day is over I promise you all that I'm gonna make one!

First I'll publish it here, then the plan is to send it today to songfight.org as a submission.

Being on Mastodon is something I haven't tried yet in combinations with songfight participation but I think it works to a song creator's advantage and here's why:

If the due date for the song in question has expired but you can still send submissions because you don't see a new song...I'm going somewhere with this...

THEN if *suddenly* you reload the page and you see a new song...if you are a bit shy(like me) you might publish your song on the Fediverse instead!
