The Assignment: An exercise in genre speculation.

Step 1: This is an exercise in genre, pondering what an imaginary genre might consist of. Consider the speculative genre called “sensitive math.” You know nothing about it except its name.

Step 2: Record a piece of music that exemplifies the “sensitive math” genre. When posting the resulting track, describe to some degree what you have come to think of as the characteristics of this genre.

My first Disquiet Junto track in quite a while: the assignment is bells and drones, so I used my favorite bell from the Optigan Magnificent Organ disc, and for the drone, the sound of the airplane I'm on right now plus some lo fi Mellotron chorus.

I have no idea what this track would sound like if I weren't surrounded by airplane.

Church bells ringing over a deep drone. Tubular bells + glockenspiel over cello, bass, French horn & viola in E minor. Sparse bells enter, intensify to a peak, then fade back into the drone alone. 3:00, 60 BPM.
