Way back at the start of 2022, I wrote an essay on one of my favorite weirdo post-punk bands, DEVO, and how they took aim at consumer culture in their art and music yet were still subsumed by capitalism, their dissent commodified.

It seems oddly relevant now, as the birdsite collapses and we all recognize the #SmartPower it exerted on us.

I recently presented an ethnographic study to conference of global energy brand leaders. CMO's, founders, marketing directors. It indicated that even regular people have come to sense the depth of the bullshit. I failed - not enough happy talk was my self-assessed critique.

This take-down of the MSM as THE enabling propaganda machine driving us towards global catastrophe is insightful.
