In default #Minetest, it is really hard to get string because you have to craft it from cotton, which is rare to find in the wild. So I made a small mod that adds string made from grass, Grass String. You can turn it into normal string.

Grass String (Minetest) – Skivling's Website

I few days ago I released another #Minetest mod - Dyes for Extra Biomes. It makes those flowers useful, to be able to be crafted into dyes.

The repo is on Codeberg: https://codeberg.org/Skivling/ebiomes_dyes
and it is avaliable from ContentDB.

It also got a short video review by @nathansalapat! And yes, I did fix the Purple Blue Allium, it now makes Violet dye.

You can watch that video on:

For Minetest mod `ebiomes`. The flowers in it can't be crafted into dyes, so that's what this mod is for. It adds the crafting recipes.
