Ahondando, y demostrando que su interés es pasional y no accesorio para fardar en una película, en la verdad del cante popular, la cineasta Carla Simón rodó el cortometraje Flamenco.

En él, se encuentra de alguna manera con el Saura más folclórico, el más enamorado y autoral, sin renunciar a ser ella misma, extendiendo de un modo sutil su mejor largo, Romería.

Carla retrata el flamenco como si describiera una fiebre que aúpa en lugar de agostar. Y lo hace partiendo de lo racial, dejando el primer plano a los orígenes, a su gente, sin adueñarse del son ni del sentir, y desde ahí sumándose y animándonos a sumarnos desde la belleza formal del cine y de su mirada. Da su lugar al flamenco autodidacta y al de escuela, al que nace contigo y al que te atropella, al que suena en la calle y en los teatros, al que llora al muerto y al que lo revive.

Todos vibran, todos resuenan, todos vienen del mismo tronco febril y, por suerte, inmune a los antipiréticos.

Entertaining myself on a holiday by exporting our #shortmovie again & again from Final Cut Pro and trying to find a compromise brightness/contrast setting that delivers the intended look.

The thing was accidentally shot in smt called ”Wide Gamut HDR” which I've never used before. So far anything that looks good/ok in FCP looks shit outside it.

But I've learned that you're supposed to throw a ”HDR Tools" filter on your timeline to even things out. Still it needs additional tinkering. Goddamit.
