This is straight up a quote from canon Sherlock Holmes. Given how often Holmes clones are showing up in Chinese drama I'm beginning to wonder why C-drama land doesn't just film "the conan" - there's enough material for at least 40 episodes, there's several suitable actors, and they do A Hekkin' better work capturing the heart of the character than many Western versions. (Speaking as a Holmesian emerita.)
