@jd I just don't think English will ever be standardised. They tried to introduce Shavian back in the day but it never took. But that doesn't mean we can't start a quiet revolution on the ground, right where we are! There are communities of people on the internet communicating in #shavian

These are my shortcuts to the Obsidian files that organise my daily life. Projects, to do list, calendar, OBTF (now called 1-N, or one note), plain text planner. Labels are in Shavian.

This folder sits in my dock.

And that is why we have the internet! The chances of meeting anyone in my neighbourhood who thinks this is anything other than strange nerdish behaviour is practically nil.

#productivity #obsidian #obtf #plainTextPlanner #shavian

Someday I'll get a #DuckyPad Pro and wildly underutilize it as a portable Shavian keyboard.

Until then, time to practice it by hand! Forgive my atrocious lefty handwriting.

Iโ€™m torn. I want to learn #shorthand #writing. But the choice is hard:

โ€ข I mainly write English, so something explicitly English works best. Like Gregg shorthand.

โ€ข But then, I also want to stay closer to conventionality of longhand, so Forkner? (Having started it, I discovered that it still strays too far from longhand and is rather a bulkier version of Gregg.)

โ€ข And Iโ€™m still Russian, so I have a lingering doubt that maybe I should rather learn (Sokolovโ€™s) GESS #stenography, because Russian is (arguably) phonetically more expressive than English. And who knows, maybe Iโ€™ll start writing more Russian someday?

โ€ข Actually, is there a universal-ish phonetic shorthand system? Something like #Shavian, but shorthand?

AAAAAAAAAAAAA, why is it so hard to choose????

Iโ€™ve changed the font for shavian.neocities.org. Not quite happy with the #Shavian letterforms, though, so this may change again. #๐‘–๐‘ฑ๐‘๐‘พ๐‘ฏ
I had an idea for a style of poetry that is (hopefully) kind of unique to Shavian.

Since so many of the letters become other letters when rotated, you just keep matching a word with its rotated pair in each line. And, since there's usually a phonetic relationship between those letters, it kind of sounds "right" somehow too.
