There will be an experimental setup to send event information of the four main rooms prior to the talks happening.

Die Methode der Spammer:

• Eine Mailingliste bei Google Groups anlegen
• Wahllos Leute hinzufügen
• Spam hinschicken
• Google verteilt den Spam weiter und signiert ihn sogar
• Leute bekommen den Spam und senden automatische Antworten darauf.
• Diese automatischen Antworten lösen weitere automatische Antworten aus.

Das Problem:

• Soweit ich im Netz gelesen habe, sagt Google, das wäre kein großes Problem
• Leute können üblicherweise nicht einfach entscheiden, Mails von Google abzulehnen
• Die Mails werden von Google DKIM-signiert
• Leute veröffentlichen in den Autoreplies persönliche Informationen, Telefonnummern und Mailaddressen
• Microsoft Exchange ist eine richtig schlechte Mailsoftware mit schlechten Voreinstellungen

Die Lösung:

• Keine Autoreplies für Mails mit einem Header “Precedence: list”
• Keine Autoreplies für Mails mit einem Header “Precedence: bulk”
• Keine Autoreplies für Mails mit einem Header “List-Id”

Diese Lösung ist generell eine gute Praxis unabhängig von diesem Spam und sollte eine Voreinstellung auf sämtlichen Mailservern sein.

Wenn ihr jemanden kennt, der Mailserver betreibt, gebt diese Info bitte weiter!

The spammers’ method is:

• Create a mailing list at google groups
• Add random recipients
• Send spam to the list
• Have google groups send new mails to all recipients, signed by google itself
• People get the mail and send autoreplies back to the mailing list
• These autoreplies cause more autoreplies

The problem:

• As far as I read on the web, google does not acknowledge this is a big problem
• People usually do not want to (or cannot) ban google from their inboxes
• Spam is getting DKIM-signed by google
• People publish their personal details, mail addresses and more to the world
• Microsoft Exchange is a crappy piece of mail software with poor defaults

The solution:

• Do NOT generate autoreplies to mails containing a header “Precedence: list”
• Do NOT generate autoreplies to mails containing a header “Precedence: bulk”
• Do NOT generate autoreplies to mails containing a header “List-ID”

The solution is generally a good practice regardless of this spam and should be default on any mail server.
