Discovered last night I’ve reached the “Leader Uniform Badges Are Falling Off” milestone.
Or I used rubbish thread. 😆
My sewing was fine, it wasn’t that.
It’s an arm located badge…so I’m SUPER pleased…😱 🙃 *shudder* ⚜️
The decision making about Remembrance and Poppy items at Scouts UK (and/or Scout Store) is inconsistent. The VE Day badge was an Occasional Badge that is intended for your uniform, but then the subsequent VJ Day badge was a Blanket Badge which as per the name is NOT meant for the uniform but is bigger.
So conceivably those that transfer their VE Day 80 badge to their blanket could have a larger VJ Day 80 badge alongside!

Today’s post was 100% Scouting and 50% expected.
(Or 33% if the badge counts, as I didn’t know that would be enclosed.)
The answer to my recent cryptic purchase posts was a Necker made from old Scout Tents from In-Tents Creations. (You may remember my apron from them in a previous post about a year ago.)
I also received a Christmas card from @forquare and his family. Handmade too. I love it. Thank you. ☺️

The first badge I was given as an Adult Volunteer in Scouting was the King’s Coronation Badge. By the time I was a Leader and in uniform though I decided not to add it, as I would be removing it virtually immediately.
And so, with my purchase of the 2024 Remembrance Badge, I finally now have an Occasional Badge on my uniform. I decided that last week’s Meeting was time to sew it on for, and so it was a second outing during the first of our Remembrance Meetings.
When you complete the Getting Started (now Growing Roots) modules of UK Scout (& Girlguiding too, I think) Training you are entitled to wear this Gilwell Metal Log & Axe pin badge on occasions when uniform is not worn.
This may also be worn by those who are in non-uniform Roles upon completion of those training modules.
Even though I have been entitled to wear it for ages I didn’t have one, so I finally got around to buying one. Smaller than I thought.
Part of my wallet lightening exercise earlier this week.
Shown : badges and paracord make-it-yourself woggle and keyring kits
Not shown : some outdoors food and beverage items

note of interest : maybe I didn’t notice it on the website description, but those Thank You in British Sign Language badges are both Iron-On and are lacking a stitched border (the latter I’m not generally keen on)
Returned home to the non-essential Scouting purchases I made the other day.
For the gaps in my Cubs Programmes and my Camp Blanket.
All set this weekend badge-wise now, unless several of those who haven’t indicated their attendance intentions either way decided they want to come, I can only provide for 75% of them if they all come.
I knew when I started planning this it would be unlikely they would all attend an event during the “holidays” (quotes as they go back to school the next day) so I waited before ordering.
I’ve seen what happens when you have too many event badges. They linger.
Back from The Howling - Dawn - Cub Camp.
Our Cubs enjoyed it, so did I.
I am knackered, but it was worth it.
