With marmalade! #IsleofMan

Today I visited the Langness Peninsula on the #IsleofMan to see one of the best displayed angular unconformities in the UK. It separates near vertical muds/turbiditic silts/VF sands of the #Ordovician #Manx Group from gently dipping alluvial fan conglomerates of the basal Lower Carb., a time gap of perhaps 130 million years. It's closely anomalous to the famous Hutton's Unconformity as shown at Siccar Point in Scotland but strangely this fantastic equivalent is barely known. #geology
