Whoo Hoo! Ford backed down! He say he was sorry for breaking his promise. All Green belt lands are going back to protected status. While I applaud him for doing this, it should NEVER have happened.
Also, the very very cynical part of my brain is saying that something big has happened that we don't know about yet, and Ford is trying to get in front of it.
Brava to ALL of the community Stop the Sprawl groups in Ontario. YOU made it happen!

The Narwhal provides Ontarians with an update on investigations into how parcels of Greenbelt land were chosen for development by the Ford government. In a pattern of lack of transparency, the provincial government refuses to make public a document revealing details of the timing of the deals and connections to Conservative Party donors. How far will Ford go to keep the agreements made with developers out of the public’s reach?

The Narwhal has asked to see an email sent from the premier’s office to the housing ministry just before the Greenbelt announcement. The government’s refusal to release it violates the public’s right to know
Eroding protection of the Greenbelt is just the beginning.
“Doyle said a rush of speculation on the Greenbelt raises the risk that the edges of the Greenbelt will be gradually whittled away. Even if the province continues to add land elsewhere to compensate for losses, the Greenbelt could gradually migrate away from the Greater Toronto Area, where there’s already not much green space left to sustain farming and prevent flooding.”
