Gearing up for my first embedded Rust project when I get back from an upcoming trip. I've got a STM32 F3 Discovery dev board and an old safe in a family members house. No one has ever had the combination so an autodialer will be a fun, DIY approach to getting inside.
Anyone out there do anything similar? It seems that a NEMA-14 stepper will be sufficient for testing (though likely lacking in speed). Want to utilize a controller with stall detection for completion.
DeKalb Area Women’s Center Great Safe Cracking Challenge<br/><br/>The DeKalb Area Women’s Center invites the public to its Great Safe Cracking Challenge on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 11 AM - 11:50 PM. Two unopened historical safes from the 1940’s or earlier are housed in the DeKalb Area Women’s Center and we are challenging amateurs, hobbyists, and professional safe crackers and locksmiths to try and open one or both. Nobody knows what’s inside! <br/><br/>Everyone is welcome to try, as well as to watch live as our crackers undertake the challenge. A lineup of excellent PG-13 heist movies such as Oceans 13, Sneakers, and Logan Lucky will be shown for entertainment. Come for the spectacle, stay for the films with refreshments.<br/><br/>For a turn at cracking either safe, Crackers will be charged $10. for a 30-minute slot. Turns will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Tickets include access to films and refreshments.<br/><br/>Observers pay $8. at the door to observe our crackers in action in real time, watch our film lineup of heist movies, and partake of beverages and snacks in the Great Hall.<br/><br/>All ticket sales benefit the DAWC and contribute to our continued flood recovery/mitigation. Any #lockpicking / #locksport / #safecracking folks out there?
I’ve become the owner of a nice Sargent & Greenleaf Model 8088 combination lock—previously used to secure tactical nuclear weapons components—but unfortunately it’s locked and the combination has been forgotten.
I have the “change key” and original instructions, but (for obvious reasons) you can only use them to change the combo when the lock is open.
I’d love to have it be more than just an interesting paperweight.
