"We’ve been saying this for years now, and we’re going to keep saying it until the message finally sinks in: mandatory age verification creates massive, centralized honeypots of sensitive biometric data that will inevitably be breached. Every single time. And every single time it happens, the politicians who mandated these systems and the companies that built them act shocked—shocked!—that collecting enormous databases of government IDs, facial scans, and biometric data from millions of people turns out to be a security nightmare."

In news that will surprise virtually no one, tolerances on basic Master padlocks are so wide that you can use half cuts to make a tryout key set of 256 keys that will have a key to open any 4-pin Master padlock. But… I struggle to see the actual utility of making and having such a tryout key set. Most 4-pin Master padlocks are trivially raked, bumped, or picked, or Lishi-ed if M1, so short of long term persistent access to such a padlock I just don’t see it being worth the time making the set 🤷‍♂️ #locks #lockpicking #master #pentesting #security #padlocks

In completely unrelated news, I’ve heard that if a TikTok user tries to send another user a DM with the word Epstein, there are technical difficulties with that too and the message won’t go through for some reason 🤔

TikTok users complain anti-ICE videos won’t upload. The company blames tech issues

Some TikTok users are accusing the app of censorship after they attempted and failed to upload videos about ICE. TikTok says the ongoing glitches are related to a power outage.

@blog just FYI, I tried filling in the “You can reply to this post with any existing account on any Mastodon server. Where is your account hosted?” box on your post at https://maho.dev/2026/01/the-forkiverse-experiment-and-why-instance-choice-matters/ with my instance (infosec.exchange) and got a “the page you are looking for isn’t here” error.

Also no results when I searched the blog post URL in my instance. I’ve doing both things (fill in my instance in the box, or search the post URL) successfully before many times. Not sure if it’s an issue on your side or my instance but wanted to let you know about the broken link/connection.
