The "Meeting & Status Seminar 2025" of the @dfg_public #SPP2299 Priority Programme "Tropical Climate Variability & Coral Reefs" took place last week in Bremen, Germany.

We were more than 50 participants from 28 national and international institutions.

SPP 2299 Challenges and Aims

YouTube
About 60 international researchers from 12 nations and 30 institutions, including many from coral reef countries, met @unibremen and @MARUM to discuss tropical coral records of climate change and environmental stress. The meeting was organized by the @dfg_public funded Priority Programme "Tropical Climate Variability & Coral Reefs" #SPP2299 @ClimateReefs, which aims to improve our understanding of tropical marine climate variability and its impacts on coral reef ecosystems in a warming world

Over 60 researchers from 12 nations visited MARUM last week, for the 2nd Topical Meeting for the @dfg_public funded Tropical Climate Variability & Coral Reefs #SPP2299 🪸

During September of 2023 a number of #SPP2299 members attended the 14th Symposium of the international Fossil Coral and Reef Society. Pictured here Are Luiza Meiritz (from @geomar_en) and Phyllis Mono (from @unileipzig). Also in attendance but not pictured Thomas Brachert (also from @unileipzig). The symposium took them from Warsaw to Checiny and finally to Krakow with a number of field work trips and interesting scientific sessions. Check out their blog on our website!

If you missed it the #SPP2299 attended the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly #egu2023 in April of this year! You can catch up on the conference, see the poster on our projects and all the conference abstracts associated with #SPP2299 members in our new blog, the link is here!

The SPP 2299 Team Attends EGU 2023

Some of our #SPP2299 members inclduing Hana Camelia and @Thomas_Felis from @MARUM and Sahra Greve from the University of Heidelberg attended the 5th Asia-Pacific Coral Reef Symposium during June.

They got the chance to talk at an excellent conference focused on the Asia Pacific region.

We have been very quiet over on Mastodon recently, so wanted to highlight some of the cool things that the #SPP2299 programme has been up to this year!

In June we had our very first Topical meeting with over 50 researchers from #SPP2299 members and other invited collaborators coming together in Bremen, Germany to talk about thermal stress indicators in tropical corals.

We welcome all
DFG Priority Programme "Tropical Climate Variability & Coral Reefs" members and invited guests for a focus meeting on stress signatures in #corals in Bremen this week!
