Simi is fighting to save her reputation after several old posts sparked outrage online. Critics shared screenshots of her 2012 tweets involving children at her mother’s daycare. The singer addressed the growing controversy in a long statement on February 22, 2026.
Her response mirrors the transparency seen when Saga detailed his engineering career exit to join reality television. Simi explained that her old tweets reflected her daily life before she found fame. She believes a “faceless mob” is now twisting her words to fit a false narrative.
”I haven’t been on twitter today – but someone brought a few of my old tweets to my attention and I can’t not address it.” she wrote.
”14 years ago, I was 23, so I was definitely not a child. I’m not here to make excuses because I don’t have anything to make excuses for. What I can’t let anyone do is twist my story to fit false narratives.” she stated.
Daycare context explained
The resurfaced tweets included comments about a four-year-old boy named David. One post discussed the child acting like he wanted to kiss her. Another post mentioned the boy trying to put his hand inside her shorts.
”David has a crush on me. He kips comn close; actin lik he wana l—ck lips n den he puts his head on my lap.Shd I giv him a chance? P.S: Hes 4″ she wrote.
”Why this 4yr old boy tryna put hand inside ma sh—t????? Ogbeni wash it oh!” she noted.
Simi clarified that these interactions happened while she assisted at her mother’s business. She maintained that the comments were innocent observations of children being mischievous. The star argued that she was simply a “cheeky young woman” sharing her life.
”In 2012, I lived and helped out at my mom’s daycare while I was hustling my music. I tweeted everything that happened in my life, as we all did at the time. Kids can be mischievous. If a child did something I found funny, I tweeted about it. Kids are cute and lovable. I want to hug, k—ss and cuddle them. I tweet about it. Nothing I tweeted was from perv—rsion.” Simi explained.
”I was not famous, so maybe if I was, I would have understood that anything is open to whatever interpretation including being used falsely by a faceless mob. I’ve never been depraved in my life. You can retweet all the tweets in the world about me loudly crushing on people I admire/d. Or being a cheeky young woman. I wasn’t trying to hide it, because I don’t have anything to hide.” the star posted.
Team deletes sensitive posts
The singer also addressed why some of her older tweets are disappearing from her profile. This high-profile defense follows other celebrity statements, such as when Asoka detailed her surgical complications earlier this month. Simi revealed that her management team made the decision to remove the posts.
”My team has been deleting some of my tweets because of how sensitive it is for my family. To be honest, I did not want to. I have always spoken against r—e and s—xual ass—ult even before you knew I existed. It’s not a costume I’m wearing, it’s who I am. I’ve never claimed to be perfect. I’ve never claimed to know everything. I said stop r—ping women. I stand by it.” she concluded.
In addition to the daycare posts, users shared a 2014 tweet about rapper Falz. The post mentioned her laughing her “p—nts off” while around him. Simi stands by her character despite the attempts to link her past words to depravity.
”Now i’m talking about Falz – I don miss am sef. Nobody to discuss gossip stuvvs with. I almost always laugh my p—nts off when i’m ard him.” the singer declared.
