Probably boring but I have to get it out....
About 12 years ago I nearly lost my leg (stupid accident - saved the leg, although there's quite a lot of scar tissue and occasional limp). Couple of years after I developed heart issues. My wife got me into park run, which I HATED but also enjoyed and also dealt with a *bunch* of mental health stuff. I ended up joining a running club for old people - primarily to get me out of the house and talk to other humans. Heart operation last year.... Unbelievably did my first 10k race this morning. It was horrible. And also wonderful. And also I am so so happy I did it. Something I would NEVER have thought I'd be able to do. I'm still amazed. I'm the most unlikely person EVER to be running 10k races. But I'm thrilled. And a big part of that has been the support I've had here. I am extremely grateful. ❤️
