Rula Daood, National Co-Director of Standing Together:

Today (2025-10-07) marks two years of unbearable loss of life across this land.
Two years since Hamas’ deadly massacre in southern Israel and Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, which continues to kill so many every day and has turned whole cities into rubble.
The pain and fear I have felt – and continue to feel – is hard to put into words.
But the past two years have also given me hope for what is possible when we, Palestinians and Jews together, are determined to create something better for ourselves.
As National Co-Director of Standing Together (Rula Daood), I’m proud of our unrelenting fight, which has taken us to the border of Gaza in emergency protests, to cities and towns across Israel to collect aid for Gaza, to border crossings to stop settlers from attacking aid, to Jerusalem and the West Bank to stand between violent mobs and Palestinians, to TV studios with a demand to expose what’s happening in Gaza, to the sets of Israel’s “Big Brother” and the talk show “The Patriots” to disturb their broadcast with our message of ending this catastrophe, even to the steps of Israel’s army chief and homes of opposition politicians.
Not only have we led rallies of tens of thousands of people, but we’ve also led the public conversation.
Our call for a deal to end the suffering and bring all the hostages home, which we made just days after October 7, 2023, has become mainstream.
Some 80 percent of the Israeli public wants to see an end to this nightmare.
And right now, there’s a deal on the table that must turn into reality immediately.
As I said in my speech at Saturday’s rally in Tel Aviv (2025-10-04) , after so much pain, we’re now seeing a real opportunity for an end to the daily killing in Gaza and the return of the hostages.
Signing this deal is now the most urgent task. But the work can’t end there, and we can’t go back to the reality that existed on October 6.
Out of this destruction, we have to build a different future, one without occupation, without settlements, a future based on real Israeli-Palestinian peace that will ensure justice, safety, independence, and freedom for everyone.
For the past two years, our extremist government has done everything in its power to stop our struggle.
It has cracked down on all forms of dissent – especially from Palestinian citizens of Israel.
And still we refused to give up hope.
We protected and nurtured it because we know that there is nothing more important than fighting for life.
In Solidarity,
Rula Daood, National Co-Director of Standing Together
