School Without Masters - Growing Anarchist Communities

Joe's Garage, Sunday, August 2 at 05:30 PM GMT+2

Every Sunday, 18:00 - 20:00, we meet up and's talk about the various topics we wanna talk, learn and develop awareness about. Right now, we're meeting at Joe's, a squatted location.

The doors open at 17:30 and we start at 18:00.

Today we're talking about growing anarchist communities. How can we squeeze our way out under the jackboot of capitalism? How can we build something that won't be co-opted or reintegrated into capitalism? Can we build a stable alternative economy, perhaps break out of the incentive structures of labor and legal systems to build out own safety nets and healthy lives?

School Without Masters is an anarchist initiative to learn horizontally. None of us are the teachers or experts, we are all teaching each other. We currently hold our events in Joe's Garage, a squatted place.

We hope to see you there!

Joe's Garage, Sunday, September 20 at 05:30 PM GMT+2

Every Sunday, 18:00 - 20:00, we meet up and's talk about the various topics we wanna talk, learn and develop awareness about. Right now, we're meeting at Joe's, a squatted location.

The doors open at 17:30 and we start at 18:00.

Today we'll be talking about Kim Stanley Robinson's The Ministry of the Future (the entire book). It's a speculative fiction novel about climate change and humanity's response to it. Painfully liberal in its politics, but uncompromisingly realistic about climate change. Everyone is welcome, even if you have not read the book.

School Without Masters - Theories of Change | Long Term Predictions

Joe's Garage, Sunday, September 13 at 06:00 PM GMT+2

Every Sunday, 18:00 - 20:00, we meet up and's talk about the various topics we wanna talk, learn and develop awareness about. Right now, we're meeting at Joe's, a squatted location.

This event starts just after All Crafts Are Beautiful. The space is open while people from ACAB are finishing up. We start at 18:00.

Today we're talking about theories of change; about trying to work out a model of how you as a person or group can effectively change the world in the long term. Which ideas for activism can quickly get countered by captalism, and are there any that can judo-throw capitalism into dismantling itself? This session we're going to start by focusing on predictions for the future. Simply put: if you want to build a community in Amsterdam, it's nice to have a better idea of what Amsterdam and the wider world will look like 5, 20, or 100 years from now; and the same goes for whatever else your goal is.

School Without Masters - topic to be determined

Joe's Garage, Sunday, October 25 at 05:30 PM GMT+1

Every Sunday, 18:00 - 20:00, we meet up and's talk about the various topics we wanna talk, learn and develop awareness about. Right now, we're meeting at Joe's, a squatted location.

The doors open at 17:30 and we start at 18:00.

We might hold an open session: No specific topic is focused on and conversation flows freely. Should we want to focus on a topic to collectively educate ourselves, then that's a decision we'll make in person at our evaluation meeting on 28 June 2026.

School Without Masters - self-reflection: internalised bias

Joe's Garage, Sunday, August 9 at 06:00 PM GMT+2

Every Sunday, 18:00 - 20:00, we meet up and's talk about the various topics we wanna talk, learn and develop awareness about. Right now, we're meeting at Joe's, a squatted location.

This event starts just after All Crafts Are Beautiful. The space is open while people from ACAB are finishing up. We start at 18:00.

At our self-reflection sessions, we ask that you come with the assumption that you are not perfect and that you've made relevant mistakes yourself. Everyone is explicitly encouraged to talk about themselves, if they are comfortable doing so. Today's self-reflection session will be about internalised bias. Our society is full of oppression, discrimination and systemic inequality, which seeps into our minds. In what ways does your internalized bias come out through your behaviour or your thought patterns?
