valentinzi13/11/25 Our small shelter was almost hit by a dead spruce tree last week. Many of the spruce trees are rotten, and even minor storms cause them to crack and break. The hazel tree will survive.
Three years ago, I built a structure by placing several trees crosswise on the slope at different points to prevent further erosion and help vegetation grow back. I filled the slope-reinforcement structure using lots of soil, wood chips, and gnawed old wood. Without it, the shelter and its foundation would probably have collapsed by now.
