Amid brewing controversy over Telephone Road project, Harrisburg TIRZ to host community info session

The local management organization for the Harrisburg area in east Houston will host an Aug. 19 information session about the planned revamp to Telephone Road. Because of Mayor John Whitmire’s policies, the project faces major changes.

Second phase of Shepherd-Durham redesign in Houston’s Heights to proceed mostly as planned

Mayor John Whitmire announced Tuesday that his administration reached a compromise with the Memorial Heights Redevelopment Authority on a long-planned infrastructure project, which his administration paused in April. The parallel north-south thoroughfares will be reduced from four vehicle lanes to three as originally proposed.
