saw this film tonight, #EarthsGreatestEnemy, at an event hosted by #IPAN, #RisingTide, and #PACOA and it was pretty freaking interesting!!

all the usual things of “the US bad” and everything is intersectional, but what was more eye opening for me is the exemptions US military operations have with regards to climate and ecosystems, and the messaging that representatives frequently detract to.

seeing the NVDA protesting in Osaka against the illegal expansion of a US base was pretty rad too!

for something that tackles a such a large topic, it was alright! communicating these ideas is smth i am keen to think about further with movements here locally and continent-wide, such as Pine Gap on unceded Arrernte Country!

good to invite ur fence sitting co-workers and family members to when the director #AbbyMartin does a screening tour here in mid July!

🪖🇺🇸 EARTH'S GREATEST ENEMY, a film by Abby Martin 🪖🇺🇸

INVITATION TO SCREENING CO-SPONSORED BY RISING TIDE CANBERRA (Dendy Cinema, 5:45pm Friday 5 June)

Brought to you by IPAN (Independent and peaceful Australia Network) and Rising Tide. ⁣

Documenting the environmental cost of history's biggest empire.

It’s Planet Earth vs the US Military - we need to reject the hidden costs of this global military empire and its horrific planetary consequences. ⁣

➡️ More info & get your tickets here: bit.ly/ege-tickets ⬅️

We see every day the latest horrors of full scale war. Whether in Gaza, Lebanon, Iran or Ukraine, thousands of people are being murdered by military machines. At the same time almost unbelievable environmental destruction is caused. We in Australia are deeply involved - US bases in Australia send targeting data to the US military. Worldwide military activities add more than one twentieth of the total greenhouse gases to our atmosphere each year, much of it coming from the US military.

Event in Canberra, ACT, Australia by Independent and Peaceful Australia Network - PEACE ACT on Friday, June 5 2026

**Paddle for the Planet!**

Where? Horseshoe Beach, Newcastle
When? 14 Nov, 1000-1500hrs

A one-day, family-friendly flotilla at the World’s Largest Coal Port
🛶 BYO vessel if you can, or borrow one of ours.
🪧 Speeches.
🌮 Food trucks.

🌏 Together, let’s get MORE VESSELS OUT THAN EVER BEFORE – to demand new jobs and funding for coal workers and a safe, liveable climate for everyone.
As the world's attention once again turns to the urgent challenge of climate action, and world leaders gather for the annual United Nations climate talks (COP31) we will once again show what genuine climate leadership and decisive action look like.

‼️ Please note: this is not a civil disobedience protest, meaning there will be no arrests. Instead, the aim of this day is to maximise the number of people and vessels on the water to create a powerful image of the HUGE public demand for a transition plan and a positive future beyond coal.

We will be having dinner together, sharing announcements of what our local activist groups are up to and chatting politics and action. Feel free to bring along anyone you feel could be interested, grassroots activist or not.💫💫💫

Rising Tide on Instagram: "WE TURNED AROUND TWO COAL SHIPS This morning in Newcastle, we stopped not one but TWO inbound coal ships from entering the world's largest coal port in protest of the HVO expansion project. The HVO expansion project is the largest coal project proposed in NSW history. The Minns Labor Government's own Net Zero Commission said last year the government can't approve any more coal if it's going to meet its own legislated emissions targets. We're calling on the government to oppose this project and urgently fund the transition and support workers in the Hunter. Photographer: @livecreativlee @willshanananahan"

**PSA - Rising Tide 2026/27 Strategy Webinar. Online 1 Jun.**

In 2025, Rising Tide achieved things we never had before — including our biggest, boldest and most disruptive People’s Blockade yet. We showed that people-powered resistance is growing, and that escalating climate action is not only necessary, but possible.

Now, we’re preparing for the next phase.

Recently, we’ve created some big plans for 2026 and 2027 and on June 1 we’re holding a webinar to tell you all about them!

More great Insta pics of the Sydney paddle out to support the Global Sumud Flotilla. The Red Rebels were part of the welcome rally - so dramatic, emotional and compelling. Love that the soundtrack for the photos has Zack Schofield singing a sea shanty, as he does so well. Wishing Zack, and all who continue to sail with the flotilla, safe journeys. #globalSumudFlotilla #RisingTide #RisingTideSydney
