This is truly sad news. I've been watching #RichardLewis since I was a kid. He was an iconic comedian who pal'd around with #LouieAnderson, and #RichardBelzer, both iconic comedians in their own right. His work on #CurbYourEnthusiasm brought his unique, self-deprecating comedy to a new audience. Lewis is beloved, and will be missed by millions.

One of the moments that stands out for me with #RichardBelzer was a crossover episode of Law & Order and Homicide that ended with his Det. Munch and Jerry Orbach’s Lennie Briscoe at the victim’s funeral, wearing kipot, reciting Kaddish. HIs Jewishness was at the core of his most enduring character and his comedy, and, as Paul Shaffer said, the cat could daven.
