need to go grab my headphones so I can keep listening to #GreenDay's #RevolutionRadio. I've been pretty much hyperfocused on this one album for the better part of a month and it hasn't let me down yet.

as an album the songs mesh together into a wholly cohesive piece of art, and it's just a very nice experience. there's energy, there's drama, and it wraps it up into a nice little bow with a soft and sweet closing song. all the songs have intertwined lyrical phrases, words that echo from the first song through the album and threads that tie the songs together, and repeating musical motifs as well.

and then of course there's the familiarity bonus to it as well, that the more I listen to it the better I know it the better my listening experience really is. my auditory comprehension isn't great, so a lot of times the first few times that I listen to songs they're mush and garbled until I can sort through them and pay attention to one melody thread at a time and only after that can I hear and enjoy the song.

plus I always listening either on my over-the-ear headphones or my hearing aids, which both have excellent audio quality.

and more than anything else, it holds up well. the. album's from 2016 but everything still feels super relevant and pertinent. I can understand why they don't get played super often on the radio; in isolation the songs are unfinished, discordant, missing that narrative interplay.

luckily, I'm not bound to listening only to the radio.
