Took 3 tries with some tweaks but holy crap on a cracker you can play #MarioKart 8 Deluxe on the #RetroidPocket5
Wowzers I was wrong #Pokemon Z-A is some form of playable on the #RetroidPocket5 with below settings

I take it back I found the purpose of the #RetroidPocket5 dual-screen setup
So I have had this second screen for a few weeks now and it has made me want to use my #RetroidPocket5 less than before. Dont get me wrong the screen itself is not bad, in fact quite the oppiste as it is a nice little USB-C touch screen with a passtrhough port at the top for charging.

It just is a pain to have attached while playing as it adds an awkward amount of weight while holding the system. Not to mention it blocks buttons on the top of the system (though Retroid did a software patch to for easier volume control through quick settings menu). Not to mention the passive power draw even when system is in sleep mode is unreal.

The software is kinda there, as there is a
fork of melonDS, the #NDS emulator, that allows for external screen support and the popular #3DS emulator Azahar supports the external screen out of the box so it is not too much work to get it working with native dual screen systems. Though for everyday game playing on one screen while having a guide or something on the other leave a lot to be desired. I would even argue not even worth having.

I don't completely regret the purchase as I stated earlier it is a nice screen on it's own, and a welcome surprise that Retroid is adding support for a system instead on releasing just another random handheld like many of these company's do. It is just is wish there was a better way to go about this.

It's not all 🌞 🌈 with my #RetroidPocket5; every time it restarts I have to hold the volume up button to boot into Grub from the #Rocknix card or else it winds up back in Android. Also, it doesn't seem to want to charge very fast (if at all) when it's not in Android. After my last one nearly caught fire I'm kind of okay with that I suppose.

Initial experience with #PSP games on the #RetroidPocket5 is mostly good! BurnOut runs with some stuttering. I can probably tweak some settings to get it to a steady FPS. #PPSSPP crashed and caused #Rocknix to reboot once, and I can't find a way to run it as a #libretro core so that Auto-Saves work consistently. I'm hopeful that those details can get worked out.

I got #Rocknix installed on my #RetroidPocket5. But it's #PSP emulator doesn't accept .7z files so I've got to decompress my whole collection and convert them to .chd files. Also, the Dreamcast .chd files I built from redumped bin+cues aren't compatible with #FlyCast so I've got to convert all of those to .gdi then re-chd them. I hope Launch ox doesn't lose all my favorites when I switch the files 😖

Pirating games is a lot of work!

My replacement #RetroidPocket5 comes today!

I need to install #Linux on it (probably #Rocknix) and see how the #N64 and #segaSaturn compatibility is. My #Rockchip powered #Anbernic #RGArc doesn't have great #emulation support for a lot of #games, and the reason I bought the #Retroid was in hopes that the #Snapdragon GPU would have better compatibility

If it performs the same then I may just resell it because the problems I had with my last unit have not inspired me with confidence
