She was racially profiled.

Watching Meet Me in St. Louis with my 93-year-old grandmother. I asked her if they used to go trick or treating on Halloween. She said they (the family) didn't really celebrate Halloween, but does remember a "trick" other kids would do was to knock down outhouses.
She said they did go door to door at Christmas where neighbors would hand out Christmas cookies, pastries and fruit. I love asking her questions about her early life.
