Audiences listen to presentations hear you say “something”.
They want you to assert something.
To claim something.
To do something useful with your time.
Make a point. Don't just fill the time.
I'd love to see more creativity in academic communication.
Not just when talking to non academics, but conferences as well.
We need to explore more fun and joyous ways of telling people about what we do.

Presentations problems I see over and over again
- too much stuff on slides
- assuming the aud knows what you know
- no defined goal/outcome
- focus on self rather than aud
- lack of preparation
Please stop doing these things so I can retire and make furniture 😂
