Last week I released a level pack for MagRider (https://nerudaj.itch.io/Magrider) and this week I returned to my upcoming project Rend: Infestation, and I think I can share some details about this game.

It is a sci-fi twin-stick shooter, heavily influenced by Alien Breed and Alien Shooter 2, with an important twist. Instead of collecting weapons, you'll be collecting weapon modules and you can mix and match up to three of them to create your ultimate weapon of choice.

For example, you can turn your projectile into spikes that enemies walk onto, then add an explosive module to turn them into landmines, and finally you could make a gun that shoots turrets that shoot landmines.

The game will be free (as always), it will run on Windows (and by proxy on Steam Deck) and Android, supporting mouse+keyboard, gamepad, and touch controls.

Tech stack - C++, SFML, TGUI, EnTT + a lot of my personal libs for pathfinding, AI, collisions, rendering pipelines, etc.

Today gamedev session - I zoomed in the game by 50% and reduced speed of everything by 30%. The game instantly felt better. Hopefully it is not just a novelty factor.

I also plugged in my library for making finite state machines and while I don't want to brag, it is a piece of code I genuinely enjoy working with. Haven't touched it for a year, zero troubles getting oriented or getting it to work.
