We suspect most of them ( especialy the complaining ones ) did not know about this.
The delete process was implemented right away. The #RemoveMyContentFromSearchEngines delete tag was implemented a day later after release.
We also provided the community with an opensource copy of the indexing code for auditing at https://github.com/LeakIX/mastosearch.

@asonix It just kinda happens... Some days you can't help but make an indexer that DoSes a bunch of instances and tells people to use #RemoveMyContentFromSearchEngines /s

Make sure your old #Twitter opinions never come back to haunt you and launch automatic tweet and like removal based on your own settings by checking out #semiphemeral. An #antifascist tweet deleter with a #selfhosted #opensource version

#privacy #cyberhygiene #birdsite #twittermigration #privacytips #RemoveMyContentFromSearchEngines

at this point, the #RemoveMyContentFromSearchEngines tag has probably outlived the actual service that was doing the data scraping which is kind of funny imo

Want to #RemoveMyContentFromSearchEngines ? You do know you can go to "../settings/preferences/other" to disable search engine indexing and technically have your content removed the next time it's crawled again?

(It's like a "Do Not Track", it doesn't has to be respected by the search engine but Google, out of all the places, does.)

Pourquoi on a le hashtag #RemoveMyContentFromSearchEngines en tendances ici ?

#RemoveMyContentFromSearchEngines because apparently you need to post this for that fedisearch thing to remove your info, from what ive read in the hashtag? man looking into this it was a shitshow for the couple hours it seemed to have existed for

i get the idea of the project, i kinda hate how searching for content works on fedi, but it being automatic opt-in for everyone? fuck off with that shit lmao

I appreciate the sentiment of #RemoveMyContentFromSearchEngines but we all remember how well #nobots worked out when the bot operators decided to ignore it
