I kinda wish apple would also develop a more high end version of those magsafe second screens from temu/Amazon that could be more full featured with touchscreen, its own processor, but connected to the main phone via a magsafe+quadlock + hinge mechanism to essentially be like a magsafe(+quadlock) temporary foldable that could be removed when you just want the single slab, and then added when you want a second screen with full functionality.

Amazon Basics Smart Dimmer Switch and Remote for Music and Routines

It's good for falling asleep to music as a basic physical remote control for volume, track skipping etc, without having to wake yourself up yelling commands or looking at a bright screen.

I do wish it came with a dedicated TPU soft case / cover to protect it from falling off the bed onto a hard floor.

Also when I initially set it up, I could setup *both* long press and single tap for a total of 8 commands.

It happened to fall on the hard floor so I had to reset it. And now I only get one option for each button. Anyone have ideas how to go about fixing this, thank you.

Android 17 may add a native App Lock feature for Pixel users

"Google may be working on a native App Lock feature for Android 17 that lets users secure specific apps without the restrictions of Private Space.
This new API allows the default launcher to lock apps, eliminating the need to use third-party app lockers.
We spotted code for this feature in a recent Android Canary build, though it isn’t expected to officially launch until next year’s major update."

Android 17 may finally add the native App Lock feature Pixel users have been waiting for

Google is working on a native App Lock feature, and it could arrive as early as Android 17 next year. Here's how it might work!

Rivian’s AI assistant is coming to its EVs in early 2026  | TechCrunch

Rivian’s two-year effort to build its own AI assistant will launch in early 2026. And when it does, the AI assistant will roll out to every existing EV in its lineup, not just the next-generation versions of its R1T truck and R1S SUV.

draft - I would like to see better third party intermittent fasting apps that resides and works completely on the watch itself without requiring a phone nearby to do things like initial app activation (some require a phone to even start the app), editing the start time (while some apps do allow pressing a start button on the watch, many require a phone for the basic ability to edit the start time), and seeing explanations of the different fasting stages etc. (many of the watchos wearos fasting apps don't have fasting stage descriptions. There are a few that do, but they usually lack either the ability to edit the start time from the watch or another core function without a phone nearby) There are various third party fasting apps. And while many allow us to press the start button, I have found that the ability to edit the start time requires a phone nearby.

"Microsoft Teams learns what the Enter key is for — the long-awaited 'new line' option is coming

After years of accidental sends and user frustration, Microsoft is finally giving Teams users the option to make the Enter key start a new line instead of immediately sending a message."

Nice! Can we also get an improved voice message button for mobile that just requires a single tap instead of requiring it to be held down which does not work well across all touchscreen mobile devices. A simple tap and release to begin recording a voice memo in the chat ui on mobile would be appreciated. Thank you

esim hotswap - can we make esim hot swapping between iPhone and Android a regular thing? With zero carrier involvement - just like regular sim swapping allows.

Regular sim card hot swapping between multiple devices requires zero carrier involvement.

Esims are supposed to be "the future" and "better". Until esim supports hot swapping back and forth and iPhone and Android and vice versa on a daily basis, as much as we want, I don't think it's true.

Some might say this involves carriers but I kind of disagree and think Apple and Google should take a leadership role here and *bring* this ability *to* carriers. Make the front end and back end technology so easy that carriers will support it. And eventually require them to do so.
