Funnily enough, US foreign policy for the last 100 years has generally prefered dictatorships and authoritarian regimes, as they are easier to control than democracies.
(Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan were atypical campaigns).

The US is a bully, it has a navy 10 times(!) the size of all the other navys in the world combined. They see themselves as the world police. And un-suprisingly, aren't interested in democracy, but would rather have chaos, and weak dictators in power than strong democracies that will stand up to them.

It's par for the course. The USA doesn't like democracy, and doesn't let anyone tell it what to do. It is essentially a fascist state on the world stage, imposing its will.
