i love this so much!! a bit all over the place, but the first half of the album is very strong, and i love how theatrical this is!! can't wait for the live album, it'll blow this out of the water. just that four track streak from whatsapp shakespeare to i know you're hurting is amazing, kinda let down by the two songs after that though. favourite songs are where is my husband and winter woman

BaltimoreThis Music May Contain Hope es punk sin tener punk, de lo poco que no contiene. RAYE no tiene miedo. Trae un LP de título largo, portada minimal y teatral, 17 tracks y casi hora y cuarto de duración total. Esto en tiempos de scroll fácil.

La Raquel se complica porque puede y quiere, ambas. Pudo hacer un Back to Basics y salir a festis. Este álbum es BSO, jazz, electrónica, soul, balada, funk (Skin & Bones), musical, góspel (Fields) a la vez.
Secuenciado con la misma excelencia con la que está pergueñado y mezclado, tras la intro llegan las pistas más tendentes al teatro musical y su drama. Lo resume I Will Overcome, seguida por una Beware... que sin despegarse de esa escena varía el son al R&B sesentas de tono girl group, una Where Is MY Husband menos directa. Esa transición salta sin brusquedad a The WhatsApp Shakespeare ("He's a cursive kisser") con su teclado vibrátil y fantasmal y su tono contemporáneo que muestra la ambición que desborda el proyecto.
Nightingale es Joss Stone, Amy y Aretha a la vez, divina en su pureza.
"I will be sad and beautiful" dice en Winter Woman, donde el violín, el tono operístico y la voz pitcheada revolotean gráciles. Lo que sirve a Click Clack Symphony, con el maestro Zimmer, de calentamiento, pues este tema ahonda en los aciertos de Winter y es de los mejores del largo. Especialmente bellas son sus notas ascendentes, las palmas adornando el beat y la epicidad.
De single querría Life Boat, un puente con su anterior LP, la cara feliz y synth de Black Mascara en una textura semiartificial donde la voz de RAYE se dulcifica entre versos con gusto a mantra y un subidón luminoso.
Con una honestidad entre lo mundano y lo inocentón en las letras y conseguidísimo en lo musical, a la altura de cualquier Rosalía, el resultado es más que too much: excelencia.
