Anyone else here actually #RaisedInACult & wanna share stories?

I was journaling about being raised in the #ChurchOfChrist and the #cultish tendencies of the congregations I attended.

I'm still really fucking proud of the time they literally had to bar the doors to keep me out of the business meeting ('cause I'm AFAB).

That's when I stopped tithing, which was a whole other drama that almost got me disfellowshipped (as a teenager) over $1/week.

Wild.

I haven't done a #RaisedInACult post in a while.

While watching #EmmaThorne on YouTube earlier, I decided to say "I don't believe in Hell."

I took a moment for a meditative breath, then just kinda whispered, "I-dont-believe-in-Hell" really fast.

It was storming; I was slightly relieved that I wasn't smote by a bolt of lightning through my window.

Because fear is a part of #ReligiousTrauma

Then I said it louder to my cat, the closest thing to a god hanging around. It felt good.
