I went on a sketching trip to Chester Cathedral today, and although it's quite rough, I'm pleased with this.
I'm looking for images of founders to help me develop the picture of #Rahere for when I get to stitch him.

I did this sketch from a very old Pièta in the church. I think she will help me with the Lady Julian, when I get to her.
I'm also planning on developing a model of the first StBarts from a plan in a book I have.
So glad I've put effort into drawing over the last few years!

More progress today on Rahere's tomb.

More details, more atmosphere, but much more still to do...

Progress on The Founder's Tomb. I do think it's coming together!

#OilPainting #Rahere
Work in progress, a very sloshy #OilPainting technique, tackled mostly with putting the darks in first. It's going to end up a bit Rembrandt-esque, lots of dark shadows around the key features.

The subject is the fifteenth century tomb of Rahere, the twelfth century founder of the Priory of St Bartholomew the Great, and of St Barts Hospital.

I believe #WilliamMarshall is finished! Here is a very oblique view to celebrate.
Now I move on to planning the #ConversionOfPlacidus, #JasonAndMedea, #Aethelflaed, #Rahere, and #DameJulian

Oh, and I absolutely must find somewhere to exhibit the #DreamsOfAmarna!

I wonder whether this will help with #Rahere?
Kneeler commemorating Sir Thomas More's Fool, Henry Patenson, stitched by the actor Ernest Thesiger, and pictured in "Kneelers" by Elizabeth Bingham, one of my Christmas presents this year.

My mother was telling my uncle about my planned #MedievalMoversAndShakers project, and received the plaintive response, "Do you think you could persuade her to pick someone more pronounceable next time?!"
So, when #Akhenaten is done and on display, when #Athelflaed and #Rahere are finished, and #Placidus is in progress...
Who shall I look into next?
I optimistically bought "The Romance of Rahere and Other Poems" by Edward Hardingham, thinking it might at least give me atmosphere or something for my #OpusAnglicanum #Rahere, and it turned out to be a Civil War era romance about a girl named Rahere, in honour of the prior. She dies, leaving her young man distraught.
So, really, really not helpful!
