I'm preparing to give a talk in May, and as well as watercolour stitch diagrams, I find myself doing this...
I suspect anyone who follows me will recognise the scene!

I have had my first review on Amazon!!

(Yes, I know, Amazon, but it's only the second review I've seen of my book anywhere!)

... Or Goodreads, or The Storygraph, I am reminded.

My advisor is fairly restricted to the mainstream! I have tried to extend his knowledge, but, you know ... <fatalistic shrug>

Well now. It appears that #DreamsOfAmarna is now available on Amazon, for those who prefer the Behemoth to the minnow that is the EmbroiderersGuildUK.

I am torn between hoping that it is a great success, because all authors want sales, and deepest regret that the advice has been that Amazon will effectively double sales, because of reach.

It won't be cheaper there, they don't warehouse it or anything like that. It's just available via that route.

If you want a copy, I will still recommend the Embroiderers Guild UK sales page:

Dreams of Amarna by Rachel Mary Wright - My Magazine Subscriptions

Embark on a mesmerizing journey through the sands of time with Rachel Mary Wright as she reimagines ancient Egyptian art and history in embroidery and paint. Inspired by the vibrant tales of Mary Chubb and the enduring beauty of the Amarna period, Rachel's creations are a testament to the evolving power of play and imagination.

I'm preparing a talk to give to groups interested in the Egyptological side of the Amarna project. I can't expect people to recognise the stitches I mention, so I find myself doing watercolours of embroidery stitches.

I'm never sure whether to be pleased or alarmed when reminded of how long I worked on the "Dreams of Amarna". I didn't have any ideas, one way or another, about how long it would take - but I wasn't expecting to do 27 embroideries and 117 watercolours either.

The book is available by mail order from the UK Embroiderers Guild, here: https://www.mymagazinesub.co.uk/embroidery/merchandise/details/dreams-of-amarna.

Evidence for the assertion in the previous post!

The large bangle actually got the Amarna project started by sparking a conversation that gave me a structure to build upon.

It was this project that earned me the soubriquet Egyptian Bag Lady at my local wool shop!

For #WorldBookDay, I offer you two books: my book, "Dreams of Amarna - Stitching an Egyptological Adventure", published last year by the Embroiderers Guild UK, full of my adventures in learning to make beautiful things, and the book that inspired it, "Nefertiti Lived Here", by Mary Chubb, full of her adventures in learning to be an Egyptologist, working for the Egypt Exploration Society.

My book is available from the Embroiderers Guild UK webshop. Alas, I think Mary's is out of print at the moment. Second hand sites are your best bet!
