Just finished the first part of our #ROPEWALK project: all ship observations, consisting of 31000 ship journals with slightly more than 2 million pages have been scanned now!

The National Archive (Rigsarkivet) in Viborg scanned more than 700 shelf meters, an enormous work that took 9 persons one and a half year. Here Adam Jon Kronegh and I present the project on TV (see https://lnkd.in/daQSaDUh, in Danish).

What do we know about the weather on a particular day in the late 16th century? Not much - not even from our #ROPEWALK logbooks.

But there is an exception, the defeat of the Spanish Armada on 8 August 1588. With a different circulation pattern, I would probably write this text in Spanish.
