Oskar im KellerLast night we discovered that the Danish #Rigsarkivet in #Copenhagen is a biotope for #spiders it seems. They have lamps that are on all night and almost each one is covered by a large net from some type of orb-weaving spiders. Probably enough for a little study by an ambitious biologist.
Martin StendelToday, I presented a poster at the #EGU24 in Vienna. On behalf of my colleagues #AdamJonKronegh and #EsbenSkov and myself, I presented the actual status of our #ROPEWALK ship journal digitization project, which is a joint venture of #Rigsarkivet (the National Archive of Denmark) and #DMI, funded by A.P. Møller Fonden. More than 50 people wanted to find out how far we've got with reading the data by means of machine learning. Maybe we can go into production mode soon, so see me at #EGU25!

Finally! These logbooks from the Royal Greenlandic Trading Company (KGH) are the first to be scanned in the #ROPEWALK project. Adam Jon Kronegh and I estimate this to be roughly 1% of all the documents to be digitized.
KGH had a monopoly on all trade with #Greenland from 1774 to 1950. #Rigsarkivet #DanishMeteorologicalInstitute
Once they have been scanned, the logbooks return to the National Archive and will not be touched for the remainder of the project.
