In 1991 I had the rolling stone cover in my locker. I had the spin magazine pictures on the wall of my room. I was a freshman in high school. Paul Reubens gave me so much laughter and taught me to own my nerdier tendencies, of which there were and are plenty of. So grateful we had the opportunity to watch him speak in LA after a screening of the big adventure, a few years ago, right before the world broke. Sinead was my first pinup teenage crush and “i do not want what i have not got “ was in constant rotation. Every song is a banger. She was punk as fuck. I still remember watching her rip up the pope on SNL and saying “fuck yes.” It has been a dark, sad week for us aging gen x types. Drinking whiskey in memoriam.
